Gustum Bar & Restaurant

If you ever find yourself wandering through Liverpool and wondering where to grab an unforgettable bite that hits the sweet spot between casual dining and elevated experience, let me tell you about Gustum Bar & Restaurant. Nestled on 72 Rose Ln, Liverpool L18 8AG, this hidden gem has become one of my personal favorites - and for good reason.

From the moment you walk in, Gustum gives off a relaxed, warm vibe. The decor blends modern charm with cozy touches, making it feel like somewhere you’d want to hang out for hours, whether you're catching up over drinks or indulging in a full-course dinner. And if you're big on accessibility, it’s worth noting that Gustum offers wheelchair-accessible seating and restrooms, making it an inclusive spot for everyone.

But let’s get to what you really want to hear about - the food. Gustum's menu is like a love letter to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, peppered with crowd-pleasers and surprising gems. One of the absolute must-tries is the Chef’s Special for Two, a beautifully curated platter that’s both generous and flavor-packed. If you're into variety, the Sharing Platter for Two or Meat Platter is ideal. It’s the kind of feast that invites you to dig in with your hands, share stories, and maybe even fight over the last lamb chop - yes, they’re that good.

Kebab lovers, take note: Gustum serves some of the most tender, juicy kebabs I've had outside of Istanbul. The Lamb Chops are seasoned to perfection - smokey, rich, and fall-off-the-bone good. Prefer seafood? The Calamari is crisp and fresh, paired with a zesty dipping sauce that wakes up the palate.

There’s also a strong lineup of vegetarian dishes. The Cold Meze Platter and Hot Meze Platter are both bursting with texture and flavor. I’d recommend the Falafel and Patlican Tarator - they’re full of depth and spice without overpowering. Plus, Gustum is one of those rare places that takes their vegetarian offerings seriously rather than just as an afterthought.

Now, let’s talk drinks. Gustum shines here too, offering a well-curated wine list that includes crisp Prosecco and rich reds that pair beautifully with grilled meats. Not into wine? You’ll also find cocktails, craft beer, and Turkish coffee - that last one being an experience in itself. If you're like me and can’t resist a sweet ending, go straight for the Baklava or the Chocolate Brownie. Better yet, try both - you won't regret it.

One of the biggest surprises? Gustum isn’t just for group outings. It’s surprisingly good for solo dining. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a quiet meal with a book or podcast, the staff are welcoming and never make you feel out of place. There’s takeaway and delivery too, but I honestly think the dine-in experience is where Gustum truly shines.

It’s also a great lunch and dinner spot. Midday meals are relaxed but never slow, and the evening service picks up in energy without becoming overwhelming. If you’re planning a late dinner, they’ve got you covered with late-night food and a bar that stays lively.

In a city like Liverpool where dining options are endless, Gustum Bar & Restaurant manages to carve out a niche. It’s not trying to be trendy or flashy - just consistently good food, warm service, and a menu that keeps you coming back to explore more. Whether you're there for a date night, a casual family meal, or flying solo on a Thursday evening, it just works.

It was my first time to visit the place, the food so tasty and delicious and big portions compared to other Turkish restaurants in Liverpool deserve every penny they asked for high recommended,, The service was excellent, the staff were great and very lovely friendly and helpful, The start’s so delicious and the main food super tasty ,, , booked a table for 13people and all the food been served in the same time . The only thing I would say it’s the car park as you had to park between the houses and took me around 15min just to find a place but other than this highly recommended xx

The girl with the curly hair is an exceptional waitress! From the moment we sat down, her warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home. She was incredibly attentive, always anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she took the time to explain the menu in detail, which helped us make the perfect choices. The girl with the curly hairs friendly attitude and genuine care for her customers truly enhanced our dining experience. We will definitely be back, and we hope to see her again soon!
